Ice makers at Harvey Norman
Harvey Norman carries the deepest premium bench range of any retailer we checked: 6 machines across 3 brands from $159 to $699, covering 4 different kinds of ice. It is also the only Australian retailer in this dataset selling a nugget machine whose claim we could verify without reservation. That one machine is the reason to read this page.

The full range
| Machine | Model | Price | kg / 24h | Ice | First ice | Warranty |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Heller 12kg Electronic Ice Maker Stainless Steel | IMH12S | $159 | 12 | bullet | not published | 1 yr |
| Morphy Richards 15kg Ice Maker Matte Black | MRICE15BK | $224 | 15 | bullet | 7 min | 2 yr |
| Devanti Nugget 15kg Ice Maker Machine | IM-ZB15N-BK | $234 | 15 | disputed | 5 min | not published |
| Morphy Richards 15kg Digital Ice Maker | MRDIM15BK | $349 | 15 | bullet | 7 min | 2 yr |
| Morphy Richards 17KG Nugget Ice Maker Stainless Steel | MRICE17SS | $499 | 17 | nugget | not published | 2 yr |
| Morphy Richards Craft Ice Ball Maker Black | MRIBM18BK | $699 | 5.5 | sphere | 80 min | 2 yr |
Two things about that table are worth naming before anything else. Not one of the 6 listings publishes a decibel figure, and 1 of 6 publish a wattage, so neither noise nor running cost can be compared here without going to the manufacturer. And no refrigerator listing from Harvey Norman made it into our sourced set, so every row above is a bench machine. For built-in ice, start instead with fridges with ice makers, where the plumbed versus tank-fill split is worked through properly.
The nugget machine, which is the real reason to come here
Morphy Richards 17KG Nugget Ice Maker Stainless Steel at $499 is the clearest verified nugget case in this dataset, and the evidence is mechanical rather than photographic. Morphy Richards describes a precision motor and a pillar-shaped evaporator producing up to 15 chewable pieces a minute. That is continuous auger production. A batch machine cannot do it, which is exactly why most machines sold in Australia under the word nugget turn out to make hollow bullet ice instead. At 17kg per 24 hours it is also the highest output nugget machine we found at any Australian retailer.
Check availability before you plan around it. Morphy Richards' Australian site marks this model as run out, meaning it is being discontinued, while Harvey Norman was still selling it as clearance stock when we checked. A discontinued model is not a reason to avoid it, but it is a reason to confirm stock before you build a decision on it and to think about how you would get parts later.
Against the rest of the verified nugget field it sits in the middle: 5 machines in total, from $281.07 to $699.99, and the cheaper ones are at other retailers. What you are paying the extra for here is the output figure and the least ambiguous evidence of the four claims. The full comparison is on the nugget page.
Where the same unit is cheaper elsewhere
1 model code in this dataset appears at Harvey Norman and at another retailer, and Harvey Norman is the dearer of the two.
| Model | Harvey Norman | Cheaper at | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| IM-ZB15N-BK | $234 | Kitchen Warehouse, $224.95 | $9.05 |
That is a small difference on a cheap machine, and it comes with a caution that has nothing to do with price. This is the Devanti sold as a nugget ice maker whose claim we could not verify: two independent sourcing passes read its product imagery and reached opposite conclusions, so its ice type is recorded as not established rather than filled in. Harvey Norman's own copy for it calls the 1.1 litre reservoir a hot water tank, which is a copy and paste error on a machine with no hot water function. The reasoning is set out in full on the Devanti page.
Going the other way, IM-ZB15N-BK is $5.95 cheaper here than at Bunnings.
Two machines that look like one machine
Different model codes, and every published dimension the same. We are not telling you these are the same product, because the codes differ and one publishes specifications the other does not. We are showing you the numbers side by side so you can decide.
| Model | Sold by | Price | W x D x H | kg / 24h | Tank | Watts |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MRICE15BK | Harvey Norman | $224 | 400 x 246 x 430 | 15 | not published | not published |
| MRICE15SS | Kitchen Warehouse | $225 | 246 x 400 x 430 | 15 | 2.8L | 145 |
The Harvey Norman listing publishes fewer specifications for what is, on every figure both pages do state, the same chassis in a different finish. If the two are the same machine then the tank, basket and wattage from the other listing apply to both, and the price difference between them is a rounding error. Buy on colour and on which shop you would rather deal with.
The ice ball machine is the odd one out
Morphy Richards Craft Ice Ball Maker Black at $699 is the most expensive machine in this range and it is not really an ice maker in the sense the rest of this page means. It freezes three clear solid balls per cycle over 80 to 90 minutes, up to 5.5kg a day. That is roughly a fifteenth of what the cheap bullet machines above claim. It is for whisky, not for an esky.
Its only direct competitor in this dataset is Wolstead Crystal Ice Sphere Maker 2.3kg at Kitchen Warehouse, $300, which was heavily discounted when we checked and produces 2.3kg a day against 5.5kg here. If the ice ball is the point, compare those two on output and on how many spheres each holds at once rather than on the headline price.
What to buy here, and what not to
We earn nothing from Harvey Norman. There is no affiliate program, so nothing on this page is worth anything to us whichever way you go.
- If you want genuine nugget ice, this is the strongest case in Australia. Buy the Morphy Richards nugget machine, confirm stock first because the manufacturer has marked it run out, and accept that you are paying roughly double a bullet machine for a mechanism that is genuinely different.
- If you want cheap ice in a glass, buy elsewhere. The cheapest machine here is $159 and the same class of bullet machine sells for well under a hundred dollars at the discount retailers. Nothing about the Harvey Norman version makes ice differently.
- If you are looking at the Devanti nugget model, read the reasoning first. It is the cheapest thing here carrying the word nugget and we cannot tell you what ice it makes. That is covered on the Devanti page.
- If you want an ice maker in a fridge, this range does not cover it. Go to The Good Guys, where the built-in range is deepest, and read the plumbing split before you choose a model.
Common questions
Does Harvey Norman sell a real nugget ice maker?
Yes, and it is the clearest verified case in this dataset. The Morphy Richards MRICE17SS at $499 is described by the manufacturer as using a precision motor and a pillar-shaped evaporator producing up to 15 chewable pieces a minute. That is continuous auger production, which is not something a batch machine can do, and it is why this one is recorded as nugget while several cheaper machines sold under the same word are not. At 17kg per 24 hours it is also the highest output nugget machine we found at any Australian retailer. Check stock before you plan around it: Morphy Richards' own Australian site marks the model run out, while Harvey Norman was still selling it when we checked.
Is Harvey Norman more expensive than other ice maker retailers?
On the model we could compare directly, slightly. The Devanti IM-ZB15N-BK is $234 at Harvey Norman and $224.95 for the identical model code at Kitchen Warehouse, a difference of $9.05. On the rest of the range the comparison cannot be made, because Harvey Norman is the only retailer in this dataset carrying those model codes. Its clearance pricing is real, though: several listings here show a stated saving against a was price rather than a separately printed RRP.
Does Harvey Norman sell fridges with ice makers?
It sells refrigerators, but no Harvey Norman fridge listing made it into our sourced set, so all 6 rows here are benchtop machines. That is a limit of what we could source rather than a claim about the shop. If a built-in ice maker is what you are after, the decision that actually matters is whether the ice maker needs a mains water line, and that is covered in full on our fridges with ice makers page.
What is the warranty on an ice maker from Harvey Norman?
5 of the 6 listings publish a term, and where they do it is 1 year or 2 years. The Morphy Richards machines carry the longer term and the cheaper Devanti and Heller units carry the shorter one, or none at all. Australian Consumer Law guarantees sit underneath any of these regardless of the stated term, and buying from Harvey Norman rather than a marketplace seller does mean the counterparty on a claim is the retailer itself.
